Was there a room underneath the stage that had strobe lights you could turn off and on, or am I dreaming that?

Showbiz Pizza was better, they had The Rock-afire Explosion. Damn those guys could rock! My friend’s mom got invited backstage after one of their shows and 9 months later had a baby brother who looked just like Fatz Geronimo.

I think you’re right about the room under the stage: my wife remembers “tunnels” under there, though I myself never saw them when I was a kid.
