The Amazing Spider-Man Rockomic (Rock Comic): From Beyond the Grave (1972)

Absolutely killer, and maybe the weirdest, scariest shit that’s ever been marketed to kids. Just listen to the first 2 or 3 minutes. This would never fly today. Some limp, quivering runt would start to cry and his manic, helicopter parents would sue everyone involved with the enterprise. End of fun for the rest of us.

I thought Peter’s voice sounded familiar. That’s Rene Auberjonois, a great character actor best known to geeks as Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Great kitsch! I love the theme song with the cool and goofy lyrics.
I bought a couple still in their shrink-wrap in the late 70’s for 99 cents at a record warehouse clearance sale, lol. It’s from 1972, on the Buddah Records label, which actually released a ton of stuff according to Wiki.

Very cool. Those records would fetch a good price now, I bet…

Oh, yeah, and the album came with a cool poster — the John Romita art on the cover — about 3 x 3 ft.

My Mom bought me this at Goldblatt’s back in 1972 because she didn’t know what to get, she was buying my brother Tom , Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon, I was 7 years old so she thought it was suitable enough for me…I still own to this day and recently got the mp3’s too….groovy!

I love how our parents respected us enough to buy us the groovy stuff we liked and let us enjoy it, even if it was a little (or a lot) weird to them.

Thayer David; who appeared in the original Dark Shadows soap in the late 60’s early 70’s is the voice of Kingpin here. Perfect casting.

I still have my copy of the album. Those first 2 to 3 minutes used to scare the crap out of me as a kid, but once I got past those I couldn’t stop listening to it.

Love this record and the first song is a favourite of my son’s right now!
