Boy’s Room, 1977

October 11, 1977. (Glen Martin/Denver Post)

First of all, that’s the Eagle 1 on the shelf behind the bed.

Second, what’s up with the bowling game? I’ve never seen one quite like it, and it looks pretty lame. Trade it in for an air hockey table, kid.

Third, scan far left, click image to enlarge, and you can make out the Mission Control Center from The Six Million Dollar Man toy line, seen below via Toys You Had. I can’t tell what the boxes to the right of the Command Center are.

I just realized that, if I had posted this yesterday, it would have been the photo’s 35th anniversary.

Wow. My co-worker and I were just talking about toys we had, including all the Bionic Man stuff. I had so many of those toys, including that gosh-darned Mission Control Center. Those consoles were all cardboard, but it was totally fun to wire him in. My favorite part was actually that radar dish—notice that I have this thing for radar dishes.

The most bizarre aspect is that “secret escape hatch.” As if that would foil any attempt on his life, right? Oh yeah, and it’s totally secret. LoL.
