I don’t really need to say anything, do I?
There are some different pages and variations in the pre-toy fair catalog, including a spread of the mail-away Action Figure Display Arena. I didn’t think you’d mind if I posted that too.
I’ll shut up now. Happy Friday.
My bedroom was that catalog! I like Kenner they had Star Wars but still took a shot at Mattel with the Fast 111’s cars. I still have a red Fast 111s.
Same as Ed, at least for the Star Wars stuff. I even have the mail-in display stands, with the nifty changeable cardboard backdrops. And before I got my full-size AT-AT, I had the mock-up cardboard one, which also included the same plastic base as the cardboard sandcrawler, but molded in white instead of tan. This one: http://www.fanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/091.jpg
The cardboard AT-AT is the only one I had. I have a great shot of the box.
Gotta love the open belly Tauntaun. Such a silly gimmick.
Man. I had some Star Wars toys, but not a whole bunch. These spreads actually remind me of my buddy in junior high, who had every single SW toy ever made (at the time). Literally. I thought he’d be an awesome SW playmate with the whole freakin’ universe at our disposal, but he was so extremely careful with the toys (handling them like they were museum pieces) that it wasn’t fun at all. I ran into him in the mid-’90s and asked him if he still had them all, and he said he did, still in pristine condition.
I used to laugh at those “Mini-Rigs” when they came out with those. I was like, “Hey, those weren’t in the movie!” We made those the first ones to die whenever someone tried to include them in our little scenarios/campaigns. lol
Never seen those arena displays before.
Geekagsm.
Remember how the Return of the Jedi toys were released before the movie and the included toy brochures gave away the Ewoks spoiler? Yeah, that was a classic.
Be sure and check this site out for old toy ads: http://192.185.93.157/~wishbook/
Oh yeah. Wishbook Web is one of my faves!
