I had this one. Note the coloring hints, especially “These pens contain more than enough ink to complete all the posters in your set.” I call bullshit.

Seen this? Reminds me of what they did to the original Star Trek a few years back… http://vimeo.com/112282165
It looks good, as far as CGI goes, but I think remastering the “classics” is bullshit, as you would imagine. I got involved in a very extended Amazon debate about the Star Trek TOS remastering a few years ago. Originally all three seasons were released without the option to watch the shows as they originally aired, and that pissed me off to no end.
I find the updated effects enjoyable as long as they’re available alongside the originals, not instead of (as you mention), and also as long as they’re enhancing the original story instead of substantially changing it (*ahem* Greedo *ahem* ET walkie-talkies)…
Fucking walkie-talkies. At least Spielberg admitted he made a mistake.
Holy crap, I had this too. It was my christmas present that year (1978). I think I’d discussed it here before, but I remember finding it super, super frustrating to have such a huge and detailed canvas with only 6 skinny-ass markers to work with.
I love this new-agey b.s.: “You can’t make a mistake since each finished poster is an expression of your unique personality.” Thanks, Bob Ross. It’s more likely “You can’t make a mistake since this burned a month’s worth of 1978 paper route.”
